This is a continuation on “How to achieve Financial Success in 2021 and Beyond”.

In this article I want to unpack the financial process of Seed, Time and Harvest. Seed, Time and Harvest is also referred to as: Sowing and Reaping; Giving and Receiving; Cause and Effect and Action and Reaction.

The below scriptures set the context of what I will be sharing today.

Genesis 8:22 NKJV “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”

Galatians 6:7 NKJV
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

Proverbs 11:25 NLT “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed”.

It’s important to know that the harvest is always more than the seed sown and a seed produces after it’s own kind. Therefore if you sow strife, you will reap strife; if you sow friendliness you will reap friendliness; if you sow acts of kindness, you will reap acts of kindness; if you give generously, you will receive generously. You don’t reap anything other than what you have sown. And it even works on bad seed sown, i.e. you will reap a harvest on bad seed. So be a person of integrity in all your dealings.

1 Corinthians 9:6-8

Generosity Encouraged

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Sparingly= small quantities

Generously= large quantities

And as we sow and give generously, 8 “God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Good work I believe represent our Whys! So as we sow generously, God will ensure that we first have all that we need and secondly enough to take care of all our Whys, which include the deeper reasons of why we want to be financially successful. We already established that God gives us all things to enjoy and for our enjoyment. He however also blesses us to be a blessing!

It’s important to know that there will be times when we give without expecting anything in return and there is nothing wrong with this. I’ve given many times too without expecting anything in return. But this doesn’t mean that the law stops working, it still continues to work for us even in times when we don’t expect to receive anything on our giving. 1 Corinthians 9:7-8

So as I unpack this topic, remember to think of all the deeper reasons why you want to be financially successful in 2021 and beyond, because the information that I am sharing in this article will help you to achieve your goals.

So ask yourself this question, Does my financial success include others?

And I’ve come to realise that sometimes we don’t have to look too far to be a blessing to others, to give, we can start by looking at the needs of our inner circles and move out from here onwards.

A very successful businessman shared at his seminar some years back, that during the times that he experienced dry seasons in his business, he made a decision to generously sow himself out of those situations, because he understands the law of Seed Time and Harvest. And that if he wants to reap a harvest financially, he will need to sow financially. He also shared that it’s important to sow continuously, so that you will never experience lack in your future. I too have made a decision to live by this law. And don’t worry about how it is going to happen, just believe and know that it will- Galatians 6:7.

There will always be supply for us in a seed, but if no seed is sown, it cannot be multiplied. Don’t get discouraged and give up before you reap your harvest- Galatians 6:9. The harvest grows through a process, Seed Time and then Harvest. When a farmer plants a seed, firstly he prepares the soil, plants the seed and then nurtures the seed until it is fully grown and ready to be reaped, so similarly we need to nurture our seed and how do we do this. We continue speaking positive and declaring the Word over our seed and most importantly we need to go out and reap the harvest, i.e. we have to take action. So look for opportunities to reap, as the famous quote says: “Opportunity doesn’t come to you, you have to go to it”! So once the opportunity is identified, you still have to do the right thing and take action, i.e. take advantage of the opportunities received.

Practical things to do to increase your capacity to reap:

  1. Study and improve your skills
  2. Be diligent in your work
  3. Be sensitive to God ideas
  4. Take action
