As I am reflecting today, I know and understand that not everything will always go as planned and sometimes it will mean going back to the drawing board and sometimes even back to our Center.
I received a message from a friend on 1 August 2020 that says:
“Build on your Centre
[Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation….And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. – Colossians 1:15-17, English Standard Version
We have become obsessed with our ends- the goals and dreams God gives us in our hearts- but forget about our Center- our foundation in Christ that is the strength and source of wisdom that makes those goals and dreams possible. If we do not cling to the Center and make everything assigned to us from the Center, what does it really matter? If we are going it in our own strength rather than through His, from the Center, is what we are doing really from Him? Or is it just to look better to others or ease our consciences? Are we choosing to pursue our purpose more than pursue God Himself?”
In reading this I realised that over the past few months I have been actively working on my purpose, dreams and goals and it hasn’t always been a smooth road. I’ve had many challenges and obstacles come my way and some I am still dealing with today. But I thank God for godly friends who are able to share these beautiful messages of encouragement, wisdom, direction, etc. with me. As I reflect today, I realise that I have neglected my relationship with my Maker, my Centre, my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I repent for choosing and pursuing everything else first and not Him, as it was and should have always been Him first. Today I choose Christ first and make a conscious decision to acknowledge and seek Him in all I do. Now the scripture makes sense that He has placed on my heart over the past few days…
Proverbs 3:5-6 New Living Translation
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
The New Kings James Version says it this way:
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Today I am reminded to submit every area of my life to God including my purpose, dreams and goals. I am reminded to acknowledge Him in every area of my life by seeking His will and not my own, by surrendering to His will and not my own and as I do, I know He will always show me which path to take and not only this, but He will direct me and make the crooked paths straight, as He goes before me.
Thank you my Heavenly Father, my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and my Precious Holy Spirit for Your grace upon my life. Thank you that even though I was distracted over the past months in pursuing my purpose, you never left me. And even though things were not always easy, because I tried to do things in my own strength, your Word sustained me and and You gently guided me back into your perfect will for my life and that is Christ being at the center of it. I honour You today, I thank You today, I acknowledge You in the presence of everyone reading this article and everyone who will read this article in time to come and my prayer Heavenly Father is that you bring alignment to their lives in the same way that you have brought to me through your Word and I pray that with this alignment, You become the Center of their lives through which all things beautiful will be birthed and prosper. I pray this in the name of Jesus . Amen.
