Recently I had an experience, where a now woman entrepreneur and property investor confronted me about how I made her feel about 2 years ago when she approached me after a property event. She explained that she was not happy with my response when she engaged me and went onto share that this response towards her pushed her to better herself and partially as a point that she wanted to prove to me. She was then in a financially bad place and today she is successful woman entrepreneur and property investor. I gave her an opportunity to share her feelings. And then afterwards with absolute certainty and knowing who I am I could say to her that her negative perception of me was wrong, why, because I’ve grown to a place of really understanding and knowing myself and why I do what I do. I did however apologise for any unintentional harm I may have caused her and thanked her for connecting with me and was very happy that she was achieving her dreams. She needed to get a few things off her chest and I needed to listen.

I am really grateful that despite the way I was perceived in this situation, my response still pushed her to take action and become the best version of herself! So, this is positive and I am glad that I had an opportunity to share knowledge and information with her at this event that catapulted her into achieving her dreams.

I’ve learnt that there are some people out there who want to get all knowledge, information and opportunities all in one moment. They’re not prepared to stretch themselves; they’re not prepared to put in the effort to achieve their dreams and they not prepared to INVEST in themselves. They want everything handed to them on a silver platter and unfortunately this is not how life is for the most of us. We have to work for what we want.

If you are hungry and determined to succeed in life, you will need to put in the efforts required to succeed! Where we are today, is no one’s fault, but ourselves. We are where we are today, because of our thoughts and the words that we spoke yesterday. If we want to start enjoying better experiences in life, then we need to be careful about what thoughts we have in our minds and the words that we speak over ourselves, our circumstances, our businesses, our finances, our families, etc.. The bible teaches us in Proverbs 18:21 (New Living Translation & New International Version) that life and death is in the power of the tongue and that we will reap the consequences of our words! So, we must train ourselves to speak positive words, to read positive material, to surround ourselves with positive people, because as a man thinketh so is he and out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Proverbs 23:7 & Matthew 12:34). So, my question to you today is what are you giving your attention to today, are they things that build you up or breaking you down?

Everything bad that has ever happened to us is not our fault, but it is our fault if we decide to stay in that pit of darkness and negativity. Every person in life has experienced some sought of unfairness towards them, but if we can:

  • Accept responsibility for our lives
  • Accept responsibility for our actions
  • Accept responsibility for the decisions and choices that we’ve made, and
  • Actively work on becoming a better version of ourselves, despite life’s circumstances
  • Actively pursue our dreams, and
  • Take action

Then we will eventually achieve the success that we desire!

I’ve realised over time that as an Educator and Speaker in the areas of Business and Property, not everyone will always be happy with the information that I share. But if life was all about being made to feel content all the time, then we would never be motivated and determined to become the best versions of ourselves and pursue our dreams. It is my duty to ensure that as a Communicator I have a responsibility to tell you the truth and the truth will set you free! The truth is not always easy to bear, but it is what is needed.

My professional mandate has become clear, I equip and coach women entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their businesses with no or limited resources and how to use Property as a vehicle to achieve their financial freedom and success. This is my passion and this is my mandate and I am sticking to it!

A few additional lessons from this experience:

  • We will never be able to please everyone
  • Perceptions people have of you don’t have to define who you are, only you can define who you are
  • Carefully consider your words and actions. Use them to build people up instead of breaking them down.
  • Pursue your goals for yourself and because you believe in them and not to prove a point to others. There will be more fulfilment in doing it this way.
  • Forgive and allow yourself to be forgiven

God bless you and remember always Pursue Your Dreams & Live Your Purpose no matter what!
