It’s only about a day into the 21 National Lockdown here in South Africa and what an experience. I am sure many of you would agree that it has been a very difficult and challenging time. Firstly for me, trying to understand what is happening across the world and then secondly the impact that this COVID-19 situation has had on many businesses. I’ve always been the type of person to try and find positives in every situation and what this has definitely forced me to do is to think about the future of my family and my businesses in a more serious way. Initially I just took some time out to get good rest and relaxation, as the last few months have been very productive months!

And then moved into Brainstorming with my husband and thinking of ways to plan and to prepare for a new and unanticipated future as this has become very important to us at this time.

Many times I’ve said, “praise God that I am a child of the most high God, because through Christ I can do all things” (Philippians 4:13). If it was not for my relationship with my Maker, fear would definitely have grabbed a hold of me.

I want to encourage all of you to stay strong, this too will pass! Every storm must come to an end! And for businesses that are not providing essential services this means our doors are closed. It also means we get to spend time at home with our families and we get to connect with them. This is also an excellent opportunity for each of us to reflect on ourselves and find ways to reinvent and rediscover who we are and who we are going to emerge as, once the lockdown is over and we attempt to recover and return to normality.

For those of us who can work from home, let’s keep doing what we can to ensure our businesses remain running. It is a unique opportunity for us to creatively look at our businesses, restrategise, plan and setup contingency measures for the future, should an eventuality like this occur again. Remember that even though the business has to be closed, you can still be active on Social Media and connect with new prospects. This lockdown is not the end of the road, it is a time for us to find our resilience. Start planning your activities and put action plans into place so that at the end of the lockdown you can hit the ground running.

In my heart I sense, that if we as a people have faith that if we repent, pray and seek God during this time, He will hear our prayers and heal our land and our people, as the bible teaches us in:

2 Chronicles 7:14 New Living Translation (NLT)

14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

1 John 5:14 New Living Translation (NLT)

14 And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.

Stay Safe & God Bless
